Amira Willighagen Opera Singer

 

Amira Willighagen was nine years old when she won the 2013 season of Holland’s Got Talent. She taught herself to sing a few operatic arias by watching YouTube videos.

Amira is an example of a child born with prodigious talent.

For her audition  she sang  “O Mio Babbino Caro” from The opera ‘Gianni Schicchi’ by Puccini. Her performance went viral on YouTube.  There was over twenty million views in a short period of time by viewers from countries all over the world.

During the semi-finals she sang

  • Ave Maria – Charles’s Gounod’s adaption
  • Nessun Dorma from Turandot

One of her goals was to perform with Andre Rieu.

The video of her performance in front of 10 000 people in Maastricht, Holland on July 12, 2014 follows.

Her performance brings tears to my eyes. She received a standing ovation.
